Installation for the Fall.

For the past several days, well weeks, I lost my creativity 'mojo.' It was as if someone crawled in my head and turned the switch off. No matter how much I forced myself to hold a charcoal in one hand and a kneaded eraser in the other, no image or inspiration popped into my mind. I had the freedom of the vast openness of newspaper print paper.

Of course, I remembered admiring the style of Nick Knight's set in the Spring Preview of 2009 from an acquaintance. Fascinated with the use of cardboard, acrylics and photography mixed media. I was especially lusting after Lily Donaldson (kudos for wearing that Balenciaga and Margiela well). The photographer, Nick Knight was very talented for the shoot and the lighting. Maybe it was the paleness of Lily?

But it wasn't until two days ago that I remembered the photo set after running into several photos. To my luck, the restaurant I work at tosses out boxes of recyclable cardboard boxes. Two, six and nine boxes are pushed into the backseat of my car. I have a great idea what to turn these materials into.

I am now getting started on several art installations with cardboard boxes. I'm experimenting with oil colors on the dense material, as well as using acrylics and 'vintage' photos to serve as my subject. But in the meantime, I'm experimenting with the materials and the placement.

Stay tuned.
